I am sure there are other ways to do this
and some may even be better but this way works well for me so maybe it will
be of help to you.
The first thing I did was to mark the center of my shirt's neckline
before putting the shirt on my dummy. I decided on this design and printed
4 copies on the food wraps. I played with them until I thought I had a
pleasing arrangement and using pins I pined them in.

|
Next, I put two copies of the design
on the screen in my PEDesigner software and arranged them to correspond in
the same position as they were pinned to the shirt. This I did by just guessing.
Then I printed two of these. I compared them to the smaller ones on the
shirt and then removed the smaller ones.
|
By folding the side of these print-out
exactly the same amount I was able to just pin them into position rather
easy by aligning these folded edges.
I double checked in several area with my ruler to be sure both side
were positioned the same.
I pinned these well to hold them and then removed the shirt from the
dummy. I put the two sides of my designs on the machine's card and then
put the card in my machine.

|
Watching the position on the screen of
my machine I layed the plastic template over my shirt to correspond with
the way the machine would sew the designs. I doubled checked
this to be for certain. I did not
remove the paper template for
the other side put just pinned it back out of the way.
|
With my shirt hooped I could remove the
template on this side, leaving the other side, and put the hoop on the machine
and began to sew.
|
|
|
When I had finished the first half I
hooped the second half the same way as the first was done. Remember I left
the paper template pinned in position so it was rather easy to hoop the second
side the same way.
|
| I decided not to put the little extra
pieces in the center of these paisleys. I thought the fabric's design would
be enough. In this photo you can see the finished shirt. I will wear it
with some black slack and accessories. A simple design but it sure made
a big impact on this shirt. That is one of the reasons why appliques have
always been my favorite. I hope this has helped you. If so, write and let
me know because this will keep me motivated to add even more for you to enjoy
on this site. You can email me from my contact page. |
